GoLink and its new subsidiary ‘GoExpress’ has been selected as one of 15 SME's to participate within the DfT sponsored Connected Places Catapult’s Freight Innovation Fund (Round 4) to develop and design a real world trial plan of our exciting new service proposition for the Courier, Express, Parcel (CEP) market.
Adam Parkinson, Director, commented: ”We're pioneering a new era of high-speed, all-electric intermodal logistics services in the UK, during a time of great change for the industry. The potential introduction of containerised rail services capable of operating at up to 90mph is completely novel and could have transformational impact on the UKs rail network”.
This DfT funded research and innovation project lasts 6 months and combines cutting-edge state of the art tri-mode locomotives, a digital intermodal marketplace for real-time booking and tracking, and smarter use of existing rail infrastructure to create a faster, cleaner, and reliable alternative to support existing road and air networks.
Trevor Hoyle, Associate Director of GoExpress stated “By unlocking underutilised capacity on the rail network and supporting Courier, Express and Parcel (CEP) operators, our express logistics network enables decarbonised linehaul operations, improved service reliability, and reduced congestion on the Strategic Road Network”.
Trevor continued: “This pioneering workstream will help UK businesses balance the health of the planet with the wealth of the planet, accelerating the shift toward sustainable and high-performing logistics and optimising the UKs rail network without needing significant infrastructure upgrades”.
